Catch Up With...... Jae Pepin

We sat down with Jae Pepin driver of the #43 Ford in the Young Drivers Canadian Vintage Modifieds. Currently Jae is in his second full time season with the club after joining late in the 2021 season. Since Pepin has joined the club he has shown improvements each time he has hit the track. In 2023, it has shown as Jae raced his way to his best finish in the club with a third place finish.

With only two races left in the season we asked Jae what his goals were for the final. "My goals to end the season is to keep improving while keeping the car clean". The biggest take away from Jae's second full-time season would be how competitive the Vintage Modifieds are. They're not just some race day nostalgia, the guys and gals who strap in to these cars are out there racing hard for that checkered flag. Jae has been enjoying how great the drivers in the series is on and off the track. At the beginning of the season Jae had laid out some plans he wanted to accomplish this season. Luckily he has already obtained a couple. First one being personal best lap time and the other being landing on the podium after a feature.

With owning two cars in two different divisions (Vintage Modifieds and Ontario Pro Challenge), it is a family affair for the Pepin family as his daughter Tenli Pepin drives the family owned #54 in the pro challenge. We asked Jae what it is it like owning two cars in two different divisions. "There really hasn't been many challenges, just time management making sure each car is ready for the next race". " There is no way I could this without Ron Easton (CVM) and Tim Norris (OPC) side of it. These guys know their stuff with many years of experience. I thank them both for their support they have provided our team." Added Jae.

Sometimes we all have to overcome something that holds us back. Jae is no exception, " I came into the season believing I can do this. Meaning improving, and gaining more confidence to drive these cars the best and fastest I can".

There are two races left for the Canadian Vintage Modifieds. September 9th, is Memorial Night and Fan Appreciation Night which includes a free corn roast after the races. Then it all comes down to September 23rd for Championship Night. Both races will be at Flamboro Speedway. Check www.flamborospeedway.ca for more information.

We look forward to seeing Jae and his JTM Racing team finish the season off strong. You can stay up to date with the latest news be following JTM Racing on Facebook.
