Sorry everyone for the delay. It has been a busy week on my end and wasn't able to sit down and get this written up. This week we will be covering BOTH JP Alfonso GT3 races. The JoMo Media Street Stocks had their schedule pushed back a week and will run double features this Wednesday.
The first race for the JP Alfonso GT3 would be at the Red Bull Ring. To kick the show off the drivers would go out there and compete to see who was starting where for the hour long race. Giancarlo Schliemann would out run the competition to start pole. Jose Puig would start to his outside. The green flag flew to start the race with Schliemann getting a good jump with Knapp running up inside making it interesting before backing out as the field made it through quickly. The opening lap alone provided tons of action with cross overs and hard racing as the field settled in. The battle of the race at this point was on lap five between the 4,5 and 6 placed drivers. Edgar, Forester and Salazar made a bold decision of running three wide into turn one. All three drivers made it through with Forester going from sixth to fourth. Edgar and Salazar would continue battling swapping positions. Coming through the last two corners Edgar would start getting loose before losing it in the final turn of the track allowing the field to snake on by. When all was said and done the checkered flag flew and it was the #10 of Giancarlo Schliemann taking home the win with the #8 of Jose Puig and the #996 of JP Alfonso rounding out the podium.
The second race for the JP Alfonso GT3 series would the this weeks races at Road America. Juan Salazar and Jose Puig would lead the field to green for this event. The pace car pulls off and the field races off the long straightaway heading to turn one. Coming through turn one Puig would get loose on the outside and crash into the inside wall without collecting any more cars in the process. The race would continue. The battle early on was for fourth between Oeane amd Sorensen. Just behind them we had Alfonso just biting his time before disaster struck. The #996 would exit the corner a little too hot and lost rear grip where he would end up in the inside wall. When the hour was complete it would be Juan Salazar taking home the win with Philip Forester finishing second and Nick Sorensen rounding out the podium. Last lap drama would ensue between Alfonso and Puig as they would battle very close. At the line it was Alfonso barely getting by Puig to come home fourth.
Next race up for the JP Alfonso GT3 Series will be January 30th at Sonoma Raceway.
